Anyone who employs a member of staff or provides
property or equipment which the general public have
access to, must take steps to provide a SAFE
environment. This includes checking that all gas
appliances are SAFE to use. Legislation calls for
the routine (e.g. annual) checking of all gas
appliances and the requirement to hold a current
safety certificate at all times.
The regulations apply to all gas
fired appliances be they cookers, fires, boilers or
hobs.
The safety check is NOT a service.
It is a common mistake to think that because a
service may have been carried out this passes or
duplicates for a safety check. It makes sense to
carry out the safety check and a sevice at the same
time, since this does away with two service calls.
EPH Services provides an incentive for combining the
visit by way of a simple one off £8 + VAT charge to
service any number of gas appliances. This is on top
of the simplified charge to check any number of gas
appliances in one property for a fixed fee of
£49+VAT.
Note that if a new appliance is
installed after a safety check, then it must still
be tested and a separate certificate issued.

appliance safety checks and services, and will
notify you in good time the following year.
